TOAST COFFIN

Performance

1hour

Under the Stonecutters‘ Bridge, On the road, Hong Kong

Material : 56 toasts, 60 firework candles, white spray paint, fire blanket

2024

People are Dying

Whether it’s spiritual or material death, from the very beginning they have quietly followed me like shadows, and then suddenly appeared in front of me without warning.

I will use “it” to build an uncovered coffin, so that some things that have already or are about to pass away may have the possibility of rebirth.

What is the correct use of the functionality of things? What social path is it attached to? Then, if the functionality is lost, is it a misuse? Or is it just not functioning in the way that the general public considers correct? Does the crowd represent everything? Furthermore, when the so-called collective subconscious seeps into everyone's body, it may be a dangerous thing to some extent. People lack independent thinking. When someone views things differently from the majority, then a sense of gap appears in the crowd. In this era when most things have fallen into fragmentation.
